Spring is sprung, and I'm a busy bee!

It's been all go this week with Incredible Edible!

On Thursday Zaria, Dot and I went to have a look at our first Garden Share site. Despite not being used for a couple of years, the beds are well kept and there's compost bins and water butts.

The greenhouse needs a good clear-out, although there's plenty of room in there for tomatoes, cucumbers etc. It's even got and electricity supply for heating in winter!

There is also a concrete pond, which is unfortunately split, although I did suggest that we could get a liner for it, orfill it in and have it as a bog garden.

Zaria is so excited she might even go down this weekend, although I will be going down myself  next weekend on the Saturday (31st March) or Sunday (1st April). Anyone who wants to come along and help is more than welcome!

On Thursday afternoon I paid a visit to Neston PrimarySchool and continued clearing their raised beds, although this time I had lots of little helpers! The beds were cleared in no time at all, and next week plants can start to be added.

I also went up to Neston High School to continue work with them on their beds. This week we put in some fruit bushes and finished adding the soil conditioner to their existing raised beds. Next week we plan to plant lettuce!

St.Winnifred's also had a visit from myself, and their beds where weeded, fruit bushes planted and lettuce plugs put in, along with a tunnel to protect them. Mr. Town and Mr. Settle are keen to get some more exotic plants, so next week I'll be sourcing some tomatoes.

Something old, something new....

I managed to find the first video I saw about Incredible Edible Todmorden, with Hugh F-W, and a newer one with 'our paul' and my favourite gardening lady Alys Fowler. Just to remind ourselves of what we're doing and why!

Pallet Planters!

I think some of these may be getting made in the non-too-distant future!

Green Renaissance

Having a post-dinner online browse and came across this group on facebook. They have some stunning and thought provoking images. Here's a few I thought would be relevant

Have a look at some more here.

Spring approaches...

A double whammy of a post this time! A few weeks ago myself and other volunteers manned (and woman-ed) a promotional stand at the Health and Well Being fair at NCYC. WE had some great conversations, ate a lot of nice food and gave away lots of seeds and lettuce! More importantly, we spread the word about Incredible Edible Neston and bagged ourselves some new volunteers!

Several of these friendly faces re-appeared at the meeting tonight (07/03/2012) and gave valuable contributions into how we are going to manage the project. Everyone agreed that having lots of organised activities would be the way forward, with a calendar to log them on available too, so everyone who could attend would attend!

Some of these activities ranged from assisting with existing project, trips out, seed plant and produce swaps and everyones favourite, guerilla gardening!

With warmer weather on it's way (hopefully) there should be a lot of activity in the coming month, which will be reported here and in our next meeting on WEDNESDAY APRIL 4TH.

If there is any new information or ideas available in the meantime, please get in touch with Eileen or Zaria at CAN headquarters using the details above. They will then let me know what I'm meant to be doing...!
